Cheshire East Council Strengthens Support for Care Experienced Young People

15 June 2026

Our Client Success Managers, Melissa and Kate, were delighted to attend a service meeting with colleagues from Cheshire East Council to discuss the ongoing success of Junction 16+, the council’s dedicated Care Leavers App

Co-produced alongside care experienced young people from Cheshire East, Junction 16+ was designed to ensure that support, information and opportunities are accessible, relevant and shaped by the voices of those who use it. This collaborative approach has helped create a Care Leavers App that truly reflects the needs of local care experienced young people.

For the past three years, Cheshire East Council has been using the app as a key tool to connect their young people with important information, practical support and opportunities available to them. During our recent session, Melissa provided a live demonstration of the app, highlighting features to support team members in their day-to-day work and help maximise engagement with their care experienced young people.

The meeting also provided an opportunity to answer questions from the wider team and explore how the app can continue to be embedded into everyday practice. Discussions focused on the ways that digital tools can increase awareness of available services and ensure young people can access support whenever they need it.

One of the highlights of the session was seeing the enthusiasm and commitment of professionals dedicated to improving outcomes for care experienced young people. The engagement from the Cheshire East team reflected a shared ambition to deliver the best possible support and ensure young people have the resources they need to thrive.

The focusgov team has consistently seen that, when organisations fully embrace the app and integrate it into their services, awareness, engagement and support for care experienced young people increase significantly. This approach helps create stronger connections between young people and the services designed to support them.

Looking ahead, the session also provided an opportunity to discuss future developments for Junction 16+, with exciting enhancements planned to further strengthen the support available to care experienced young people across Cheshire East.

Melissa and Kate, on behalf of the whole focusgov team, would like to thank Cheshire East Council for their continued partnership and commitment to empowering care experienced young people through innovative, accessible and co-produced digital solutions.
